After Google, Microsoft is the latest tech company in line to comply with the US ban with Huawei. The Chinese phone maker no longer receives updates for Android as well as some other key apps. While Google is quite vocal about what it intends to do, Microsoft, on the other hand, chooses to stay silent.
The MateBook X Pro is among the best laptops using Window. However, without a license from Microsoft, it cannot rival MacBook Pro, HP Spectre x360, and Surface anymore. This model is no longer on Microsoft online store.

Without a notice beforehand, the listing for this laptop disappeared. Even if you search for any Huawei hardware, there is no result at all. However, physical stores that still have some of Matebook X Pro left in stock will still sell them.
That is not all, with Microsoft’s ban, Huawei’s server solutions will be affected. Both companies offer a hybrid cloud solution, but those of Huawei has the certification from Microsoft.
Qualcomm and Intel must also comply with the order from the US government. Although Huawei has its own modems and processors for its smartphones, the company still has to rely on the latter for server chips. It is believed that Huawei is stocking chips so it will be ready in the next three months.
This tension between Huawei and the US has been going on for years, so the company has been working on alternatives for both Window and Android. However, the company does not announce any information on how far along these research has been. In a recent interview, Richard Yu, Huawei’s executive, said that they “prefer to work with the ecosystems of Google and Microsoft.”
Google has granted the company a three-month ban lift to update software for its devices; Microsoft, on the other hand, does not seem to be interested in doing the same thing.
If the Huawei does not come up with a solution soon, the ban can seriously harm its prospect. ZTE has been struggling ever since the US impose a trade ban on it. After three months, the ban was lifted, but the damage it caused cannot be reversed.
