Facebook Made Deals With Record Labels To Stream Official Music Videos On Watch

Some sources indicated that the social network giant has started testing Watch-based music videos in a few markets.

The Watch section on Facebook has been available for quite a while, but this video platform seems to be a place for short video clips made by users or re-uploaded content from other pages or even other platforms. Due to that reason, the social network now intends to introduce music videos to directly compete with YouTube.

As reported by some sources from Bloomberg, Facebook and several well-known music record producers like Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony Music, and the likes of them are engaging in discussions to prepare for the new plan. These sources also indicated that the social network giant has started testing Watch-based music videos in a few foreign markets.

Despite the fact that some markets like Thailand and India are witnessing the longstanding dominance of YouTube, the social network has reportedly been running plot tests there, which resulted in tons of views from audiences. However, there’s no official music video being tested on the Watch section.

Facebook Watch may have to go a long way to catch on YouTube’s popularity, but the opportunity is everywhere. For instance, a lot of content creators are criticizing YouTube for being unfair to them. As a matter of fact, numerous record labels are looking forward to giving Facebook a chance in search of better terms and policies.

At present, both official music videos and other similar content are bringing YouTube massive traffic and traffic as well, so a number of deals with record labels will redirect a bunch of audiences from YouTube to Watch. Of course, we need more time to be able to give a prediction on whether Facebook Watch can surpass YouTube with flying colors or not.
