This Drug Dealer Lost $60 Million Worth Of Bitcoin Because Of His Landlord

Clifton Collins, a drug seller living in Ireland, was one of the early cryptocurrency investors as he started buying 6,000 bitcoin between 2011 and 2012. As a marijuana grower and seller, it was not something hard for Collins to hold such a large amount of bitcoin, considering that the price varied from $4 to $6 instead of the current price of around $9,700. However, the 49-year-old man doesn’t enjoy his investment that much – because his landlord accidentally threw them all out.

According to The Irish Times, Collins was landed in jail with a five-year sentence in 2017 for his illegal activities. After he got arrested, the landlord wiped out his possessions and sent them to a dump camp in an effort to clear out his sin room. Bleakly, these included fishing rode case in which Collins hidden his bitcoin codes printed onto a piece of paper. The estimated worth of his “paper”, at the time you’re reading this, is nearly $60 million.

As usual, bitcoin and other blockchain-based cryptocurrencies are traded through crypto-wallet platforms. Once the purchaser places a bid, the crypto wallet issues him a secret code to protect his digital assets. Due to the fear of being scammed or hacked, crypto wallets encourage customers to hide such codes somewhere safe, so Collins seemed to follow this security guidance seriously.

Collins later divided his 6,000 bitcoin into a total of 12 different accounts to safeguard his crypto-fortune and printed out all the codes on paper. The man then carefully stuffed it into a fishing rod case but unfortunately, he failed to get along with his luck!
