According to German media, a laptop that was linked with this country’s military and internal data was found being listed on eBay for nearly $100. In fact, a team of security experts already bought the device before discovering that it still ties in with readily-accessed classified information of the German military.

Interestingly, a guideline on how to defeat an air defense system dubbed “LeFlaSys Ozelot” was found in the hard drive of the aforementioned laptop. A report from Deutsche Welle revealed that the system was first launched nearly 20 years ago but still shows its effectiveness until now as it can react to air threats in a matter of seconds and protect soldiers as well.
As confirmed by a researcher in the security team, there’re several different types of information attached to the laptop, including instructions on weapon platforms and even the way to destroy the entire system once the enemy forces take control of it.
The laptop still ran on Windows 10 without being protected by any password. In addition to this, security experts were able to gain access to the military program easily because it used “a very easy-to-guess password”. Well, it’s “guest” for both username and password blanks.

Der Spiegel, a well-known German magazine, claimed that it’s not the first time such laptops go on sale. For instance, last July, another laptop was also spotted on eBay and a German forester bought it for a dirt-cheap price. The man then found out that his laptop has been associated with a manual for a rocket launcher codenamed “Mars”.
