COVID-19: Samsung India To Halt Production At Noida Manufacturing Plant

Samsung India has decided to deploy a makeshift suspension on manufacturing operations.

The recent lockdown ordered by the Indian government has forced Samsung India to halt all types of productions at its factory complex in Noida amid the COVID-19 outbreak. As of now, this plant is the largest manufacturing base of Samsung across the globe with a labor force of over 70,000 employees.

Partha Ghosh – Head of Communications Department at Samsung India – said in a statement that the company sets employees’ health and safety ahead of all priorities. As the government started putting more measures to protect people from being infected with the COVID-19 virus, Samsung has already decided to deploy a makeshift suspension on manufacturing operations. As part of that, employees at almost all departments such as R&D, marketing, sales, etc… are asked to complete their work at home other than having to commute between offices and areas.

The Korean company has begun its work-from-home implementation for employees at different plants for a week. In the meantime, all Samsung stories in North America are also closed in quest of battling the widespread COVID-19 virus. However, the company still operates Repair Centers in Canada but customers have to leave their devices there and the process of receiving repaired devices will be done via couriers.
