Bill Gates Invests In A Startup To Make Office AC Systems Smarter

Designed with many sensors, the AC systems can keep track of the temperature variations and adjust them according to each specific area in the office.

Bill Gates has reportedly invested in a startup called 75F which specializes in making AC systems in offices smarter.

As one of the indispensable devices in our offices, air conditioner ensures to bring the most comfortable working space to employees. However, it doesn’t always provide enough hot or cold air. This disadvantage leads to the two following problems: first, employees’ productivity may significantly reduce, and second, the larger the amount of power consumption is, the higher the carbon emission gets. And 75F was established to handle both of these issues.

The AC systems are designed to stabilize the indoor temperature and reduce carbon emission.

In a bid to bring more comfort to office staff, the startup has focused on producing smart automation devices which are a combination of machine learning and sensors. Also, their initiatives are able to save up to 30% to 50% energy consumption.

Designed with many sensors, the system can keep track of the temperature variations and adjust them according to each specific area in the office.

In addition, the weather forecast which is connected with this system will monitor and remain the indoor temperature stable. Another functionality of these built-in sensors is to control air quality. For instance, the system will ‘create’ fresh air to maintain the air levels when detecting air quality is reducing in a closed space.

The prominent advantage of 75F’s smart device is easy-to-install. Any standard HVAC engineer who usually conducts maintenance service for office AC systems can easily install the system. With it, it is unnecessary for employees or admin to have a Building Management System (BMS) engineer change the settings per hour. Machine learning is another plus point due to its capability of working seamlessly.

The startup also points out that if this technology is widely applied in the United States, the carbon emission in the country will be reduced to as similar as saving up to 827 million oil barrels or closing 90 coal plants.
