Amazon has been showing a lot of effort to credit the healthcare industry when the company recently pushed out the availability of Alexa in hospital rooms. Now, both patients and doctors will have a more straightforward way to manage the prescriptions with a smart speaker in action, described an important-yet-convenient change. The e-commerce giant has teamed up with a firm called Omnicell to ease the process of offering medication to patients. The voice assistant will remind them to take the pills on time as well as refill them when needed.
In particular, users need to link their pharmacy account and turn on the feature. The system then sends you reminders based on personal prescription data, or you can ask for what you exactly have to take if you’re not sure about it. In the meantime, you can also order Alexa to refill your prescription to call up the pharmacy.
Amazon creates a complicated set of privacy layers to ensure your medication history will be kept behind closed doors, getting away from others tracking it. To access data, it requires you two steps that include the use of Alexa voice profile and a private passcode. Every interaction with the pharmacy skill will get redacted before someone can cast a glance at the mobile app.
The feature will broaden its availability next year. As for Amazon, the company never stop putting more footprint onto the pharmaceutical worlds with a number of upcoming projects and acquisitions as we’ve known so far.
