When the automobile industry is shifting toward making electric vehicles, startup MayMann Research claims that it has developed a system allowing the operation of a normal piston engine with just alcohol and water.
What the company states are that by combining 70% water with 30% ethanol (other alcohol also works as well), it can fuel the engine. MayMann Research is founded in a garage by a father and two sons. The father is 81-year-old engineer Yehuda Shumueli. His sons who assist him with the project are Eitan and Doron.

According to Yehuda Shumueli, compared with gasoline, the efficiency of their proposed system is much higher (up to 60%). Its costs for fuel are also significantly lower at 50%. Until now, there have been four working prototypes been built which include a generator and a car.
Shumueli said that for the last six years, he and his sons have kept their project a secret. But it is now time for them to expose themselves and tell the world about their invention.
The team claims that with some simple but sophisticated modifications, they can convert existing engines into one that supports this fuel.
A combustion chamber, described in the patent that the company filed, receives a mixture of hydrogen, air, and a liquid fuel which consists of water as well as a flammable, non-fossil substance.
While the company’s proposed work sounds futuristic and exciting, there are doubts about its feasibility, whether it will work in the real world when taking into account the vagueness of the disclosed technical details.
However, we will just have to wait and see if, in the future, this engine might make it.
