August 30 has witnessed the Delhi Commission for Women demanding the police to file a criminal charge against a widespread mobile application which explicitly encouraged prostitution in the country. The Commission, at the same time, managed to make the Telecom ministry shut down the app. This app is believed to be highly accessible online through Android and Apple platforms, and to explicitly support prostitution.
In the two documents sent to the ministry and the police, the Delhi Commission for Women questioned whether the abovementioned forces have done anything to stop that specific application or other apps alike.
The application being discussed is the service provider of escorts, strippers, prostitutes, etc. and is turning women into a kind of commodity, as claimed by the commission.
The group of women representatives demanded the police to instantly file an FIR on the situation, referring to prostitution encouragement as a severe law violation.
The Commission, in the document sent to the ministry, also requested that the particular application be shut down and the same goes for similar websites and apps that serve as channels of prostitution.
