According to four reviewers, Samsung long-awaited foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, was broken after just two days in use. The Korean phone maker said that the phone could handle up to 200,000 times of folding, but obviously, some of them cannot last longer than a couple of days.
On Twitter, Mark Gurman reported that The Galaxy Fold’s display could not hold up for two days. However, it turns out that he had removed the protecting film cover, which Samsung said should be kept intact. Gurman did not know that and Marques Brownlee, a Tech YouTuber did not either. He too, take the film off and then he started noticing a similar crack.
If Gurman was not the only one who knew nothing about the warning, Samsung might want to make the message clearer. Browlee said on his Twitter that the company should do it better with users who preordered the Galaxy Fold.
It seems that the phone shows sign of being broken because some users remove what should stay on the phone. However, Steve Kovach of CNBC shared that even when he kept the cover on, he still noticed the display flickering.
According to The Verge, there is a bulge appears under the display and then eventually breaks it. This has nothing to do with the film is on or not as tweeted by other reviewers.
Apart from the above reviewers, there has been no other report of the display broken on the Galaxy Fold. Samsung does not actually have a repair program for its new phone, which was a real concern. The company does have the Galaxy Repair Service but it excludes the Galaxy Fold.
Samsung has made no comment on the absence of repair service and people who preordered the foldable phone are expected to receive theirs on the 26th of April.
