After all of what happened to the Galaxy Fold right before its official releasing day, Samsung has decided to put the launch of its first foldable phone on hold. Samsung has been quiet about what comes next with the Galaxy Fold, which confuses those who have been keeping an eye on the phone ever since it was introduced. However, the company has finally spoken about the fate of the phone.
According to The Korean Herald, DJ Koh, President of the Mobile Communication Business at Samsung Electronics, said that the company would have an answer for users today about the day they can expect to see the foldable phone in reality. Samsung
As for the gaping hole reviewers saw on the phone previously, the company claimed that it had found the way around that problem. In a video uploaded by iFixit, which showed the Galaxy Fold being torn down. Viewers could see there was a 7-mm gap in the hinge to which dust and debris can get to the inside of the phone. There are other minors flaws that iFixit pointed out, but the teardown was taken down later per requested by Samsung.
This gap is arguably the most significant problem as because of it, some reviewers’ Galaxy Fold was broken or not working properly after just a day in use. Other peeled off the plastic layer they see on the screen thinking it was some kind of a protective film, thus broke the screen entirely.
Samsung is obviously aware of these problems, and although Koh said nothing of them in his interview with The Korean Herald, the company must have found a way to fix them before launching the phone to the public.
