Samsung To Retrieve All Samples Of The Galaxy Fold

Samsung made the same move in 2016 with its Galaxy Note 7

Samsung is taking back all samples of the Galaxy Fold it has distributed to reviewers so far. This piece of news is leaked by a person of direct knowledge about the matter. The reason for this move is the reports of bulge or blinking screen made by four reviewers right before the company’s scheduled releasing date of the Galaxy Fold.

Samsung had to make a similar move three years ago when the Galaxy Note 7 was believed to explode. According to some investors and analysts, the foldable phone will account for half a percent of Samsung’s total.

Earlier this week, Samsung announced that it will delay the releasing date to look into the problem of the screen showing damage after just two days of use. So far, what the company believes to be the cause are the hinges where the two parts of the phone fold.

The recent scandals will not have much of an impact on Samsung’s revenue but it may put an obstacle between the company and the innovative leader spot it has worked so hard to gain.

Samsung may come out of this mess intact but the same cannot be said for supply-chain companies that operation relies heavily on bigger tech firms. Another person with expertise in this matter said that KH Vatec did an investigation on the hinges but they found no issues.

Among four reviewers who have come out saying that the Galaxy Fold broke after two days, two of them had peeled off the film layer on the screen, which Samsung said not to.

According to SK Securities, Samsung should have said clearer about what users should and should not do with the phone.

Before the incident of the blinking screen, Samsung projected that it would sell around 1 million foldable phones in 2019. A company’s employee said that if you looked on the bright side, the company had another chance to perfect the phone before it gets to the hand of the general public. In answer for the customers who have preordered the phone, Samsung confirmed that they would get the phone and more information would be updated in the next two weeks.
