At the launch event of the Redmi 8, Xiaomi India's managing director Manu Kumar Jain confirmed the launch date of the Redmi Note 8 Pro to be 16 October.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro will make its way to India in the upcoming week. The news was confirmed by Xiaomi India’s managing direct Manu Kumar Jain at the launch event of Redmi 8 in the country today. The handset is the latest offering in the brand’s Note series and arrives as the direct successor to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The phone is one of the first phones to come with a 64MP sensor and also the first one in the series to sport a quad-camera setup on the rear and an Helio G90T gaming chipset.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro sports a 6.53-inch display with FHD+ resolution and a dewdrop notch on the top. It ships with Android 9.0 Pie at launch with the brand’s MIUI 10 on top to take care of the software side of things. As mentioned, it is one of the first phones to feature an Helio G90T gaming chipset along with HyperEngine technology for better gaming experience. The device is available in several memory configurations with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. With 4,500 mAh capacity, the device’s battery can still be quickly recharged with 18W quick charging solution.

Camera-wise, it features a quad-camera system at the back that consists of a 64MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, a 2MP depth sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera. The cameras support 8K video recording and up to 25X zoom. On the front, users can take selfies and video calling with a 20MP selfie camera. For security, it supports a fingerprint sensor mounted at the back of the phone.

The Redmi Note 8 Pro is expected to be priced around the Rs. 15,000 mark, which is in a similar price range of its rival Realme XT, which is among the early phones to feature a 64MP camera.
