Huawei P40 First Render Shows Mate 30 Pro-Like Waterfall Display

The Huawei P40 might launch at an earlier date than its predecessor, possibly at the CES event in January or MWC event in February.

The Huawei P40 series was said to arrive in March next year just like its predecessor. However, recent rumors suggest that the lineup might be launched earlier. They might make their appearance at the CES event in January or MWC event in February. Nevertheless, there is still quite a while until its close possible launch date. However, we have just seen first render photo of the Huawei P40 surfacing online. Thanks to the render, we can get a few details about the upcoming handset.

The new leaked image shows that Huawei P40 will have a waterfall display, very similar to the one on Mate 30 Pro. And yet, if you pay close attention, you can see that the rear camera cluster of this flagship is slightly protruding from the back and the right edge of the metal frame will be where the power button is located as well as the volume rocker.

In terms of hardware configuration, previous sources predict that Huawei P40 will get the processing power coming from the Kirin 990 5G chipset - manufactured on the 7nm EUV process. That's because the successor to the chipset, the Kirin 1020, is expected to launch in September next year. Therefore, the first one to feature the processor should be the Huawei Mate 40 series.

On the front, the handset is said to sport a 6.57-inch AMOLED panel with a pill-shaped punch-hole to house two selfie snappers. The display supports up to 2K resolution, DCI-P3, and HDR. In terms of camera, we expect to see at least four at the back of the phone since the Huawei P30 already comes with the same amount of sensors. Moreover, many smartphones have already packed their flagships with four or even five shooters on some of them.

Software-wise, we are not sure whether the situation will get better by the time the handset launches. If not, the lineup should come with Huawei’s own OS, HarmonyOS.
