Gaming-Centric ASUS Rog Phone 2 Passed Through TENAA With 5,800mAh Battery & 6.58-Inch Display

The upcoming gaming-centric ASUS Rog Phone 2 was just spotted on China's TENAA with a massive 5,800mAh battery and a 6.58-inch display.

The gaming-centric ROG Phone 2 from Asus is set to make its debut in China on 23 July. Recent live photos revealed its full design, while we got the key specifications of the phone via its listing on Geekbench. Now, ahead of its official launch, the ROG Phone 2 passed through China’s TENAA with two model numbers ASUS_I001DB and ASUS_I001DA.

Based on previous reports, these two models might be variants of the upcoming ROG Phone 2. The TENAA listing reveals that it will sport a 6.5-inch screen, pack a whopping 5,800 mAh battery, and have dimensions of 170.99x77.6x9.78 mm. Unfortunately, these are all the details we could get from the new listing, but it might get updated in the coming days.Asus Rog Phone 2 2

Moreover, the Asus_I001DC model was also listed on Geekbench recently. The listing showed that the phone would pack up to 12GB RAM, ship with Android 9 Pie out of the box with the brand’s custom UI atop.

Moreover, it might also be the first handset to be powered by a Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC that was recently launched. It achieved scores of 3,161 and 11,103 points in the single and multi-core tests, respectively. And those two scores are higher than most of the Snapdragon 855-powered smartphones.

Meanwhile, the leaked live photos revealed that the handset would have three levels of display refresh rate — 60 Hz, 90 Hz, and 120 Hz. Instead of following the trend, Asus still decides to keep the front design of its predecessor Asus ROG Phone on this upcoming phone.

That means the handset will still have a notch-free display with a thick bezel at the top for a selfie camera and sensors. Moreover, since the ROG Phone 2 is a gaming-centric offering, Asus should equip it with some sort of cooling system to keep its temperature under control for intense gaming sessions.

Its official launch event is only five days away from now. We won’t have to wait much to get full details on the ROG Phone 2.
