Black Shark And Redmi Are About To Launch Their Own 5G Smartphones

To catch up with the 5G phone trend, Black Shark and Redmi are planning to introduce their 5G phones in coming time.

Chinese phone maker Xiaomi is expected to introduce its first 5G smartphone dubbed Mi Mix 3 5G in China and Europe. Meanwhile, Xiaomi’s sub-brands Black Shark and Redmi are also planning to unveil their own 5G smartphones.

Lu Weibing who took part in MWC Shanghai posted “5G is coming” on his Weibo account. He revealed that 5G smartphones priced below CNY2,000 (roughly Rs. 20,000) excluding taxes will be unveiled by the end of 2020.

His colleague working at Black Shark also posted the brand’s R&D team has been on the track of launching the next-generation wireless network as well as Black Shark 5G in the coming time. However, he did not reveal the launch date.

Redmi’s exec said “4G changes lives, 5G changes society” and stated that the 5G network will boost the development of many new mobile apps for users to experience.

Meanwhile, rival Oppo and Lenovo have already their own 5G phones called Oppo Reno 5G and Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Explorer Edition respectively. In particular, the Oppo Reno 5G is exclusively available in the UK through EE. Accordingly, the phone costs from €899 (roughly Rs. 70,000). The handset has similar specs to the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom but comes with a 5G-ready X50 modem. It sports a 6.6-inch AMOLED screen with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB expandable internal storage. In terms of camera, it features a dual rear camera setup including a 48MP sensor and a 13MP sensor.

The Lenovo Z6 Pro 5G Explorer Edition has recently been showcased at MWC Shanghai. The phone is powered by a Snapdragon 855 SoC and also has an X50 modem. It sports a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen and a 4,000 mAh battery like the base variant. In a nutshell, just the 5G-ready components differentiate the phone from the LTE variant. So far, there has been no information about the device’s launch date and price.
