ASUS ROG Phone 2 Listed On Geekbench With Snapdragon 855 Plus & 12GB RAM

The upcoming gaming-centric Asus ROG Phone was just listed on Geekbench with the newly-launched Snapdragon 855+ SoC and a whopping 12GB of RAM.

The gaming-centric Asus ROG phone was launched last year as the first gaming phone from Asus. Now, its successor Asus ROG Phone 2 is expected to make its debut in China on 23 July.

Ahead of its official launch, several real-life photos of the handset have surfaced online, giving us a good look at the phone’s design. Now, the device has passed through the benchmarking platform Geekbench with model number ASUS_I001DC. The handset was previously certified by Wi-Fi Alliance and China’s 3C under similar model numbers.

According to the Geekbench listing, the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 855+ which has just been announced by Qualcomm a few days ago. The listing also reveals the Android version and the amount of RAM of the upcoming device. With this specs, the Asus ROG Phone 2 might be the most powerful Android smartphone up to date.

You can see from the listing that the handset will be driven by a Snapdragon chipset with 1.78 GHz clock speed. The brand also confirmed that it would make use of a snapdragon 855+ in the ROG Phone 2. It is also listed to pack a whopping 12GB RAM, and there might also be a variant with 8GB of RAM as well. Software-wise, the handset boots Android 9 Pie. Its benchmark scores are 3,166 and 11,103 points in the single and multi-core tests, respectively.

Recently, live images of the handset were leaked, and they revealed that the upcoming Asus flagship would offer three levels of display refresh rates - 60 Hz, 90 Hz, and 120 Hz. The photos further suggest that it will feature a notch-free design with a thick bezel at the top to house a selfie camera. Similar to its predecessor, the ROG Phone 2 is expected to feature some kind of cooling system to make sure its heat under control while playing intense games.

Asus is said to announce the phone at a launch event on 23 July in China. Availability and pricing details of the phone are still under wraps for now.
