YouTube Adds UPI Payment Support For Indian Users

From now on, besides credit cards and debit cards, users in India can make transactions on YouTube SuperChat or movie rentals with their UPI IDs.

YouTube has announced the new support for payment on its platform, introduced as UPI. Now, users can easily conduct transactions on the video-sharing platform including SuperChat, movie rentals among others. You don’t need to have a credit or debit card to make transactions; you just need to have a UPI ID connected to your bank account and then you can do it conveniently. This new tool can be used to pay for both Premium and Music subscription memberships.
According to YouTube, the new payment option can be applied to every UPI apps. Users can pay for monthly or quarterly prepaid subscriptions, buy or rent movies and support their favorite YouTube creators by paying for features on the platform like SuperChat.
Despite the new UPI payment method, if you want to watch YouTube Originals, you don’t need to buy a Premium subscription at least for now. There are a lot of free shows for users like Step Up: High Water or Escape The Night and other shows. However, soon, those shows will not be free anymore and only available to premium subscribers.
At the same time, there is information that YouTube is building a new feature like TikTok's and it might be named Shorts. This feature will have short videos created and posted by users like those on TikTok. Users have a large source of music, songs and sounds on Google to use for creating their content.
