WhatsApp is working on a lot of new features that will come to both of its iOS and Android apps. And now it seems to be doing tests on a QR code scanner.

WhatsApp is working on a lot of new features that will come to both of its iOS and Android apps. The new features include ranking contacts, Share status to Facebook, etc. Now, the popular messaging platform seems to be doing tests on a QR code scanner, and we have heard about this feature before.

Back in May, WhatsApp was also developing a QR code scanner which would let users give their own contact details to other users.

And this feature is now reportedly available for Android devices with the Beta version 2.19.189, but for now, not all users can access this version. According to WABetaInfo, the feature will eventually come to all devices. WhatsApp is expected to soon include a shortcut for the new QR code scanner in its Android app. It may work similarly to Facebook Messenger and Instagram username QR codes.

In addition, the source shared a screenshot of WhatsApp’s QR code feature. Accordingly, users just need to tap on the shortcut, then they can scan and share QR codes.

On the other hand, as revealed by a previous report, when the app detects a WhatsApp QR code, it will fill the data to all the contact fields automatically. The contact will be added to the user’s address book. Plus, the app is likely to let users revoke the QR code.

Apart from that, recently, the Facebook-owned company rolled out a new update to users of its Android Beta, in the version numbered up to 2.19.18.3, where WhatsApp allowed users to hide Status updates from contacts that you muted. Like the QR Code scanner, this feature may also come out soon.
