Last Friday, Twitter did refresh, reorganize and also simplify its regulations and rules. The aim of this action is to help users to understand more about what can be accepted and what can’t on this platform.
Accordingly, the micro-blogging site has specified and divided rules into 3 different high-level categories. They are authenticity, privacy, and safety. Not just that, the popular social network site also clarified other relating subjects which include spam, platform manipulation, and election integrity.
Twitter's VP, Trust and Safety, Del Harvey said in a blog post that the company is refreshing rule pages to include more information such as examples, step-by-step guidelines to report tweets, as well as details about what happens once it takes action.
The social giant said that with at most 280 characters, each rule will give a clear and precise description of what Twitter prohibits. For each high-level category, there will be a separate page where users will find detailed rules along with specific scenarios in which users could violate the policies of the app.
Thanks to this step, Twitter wants to help its users to understand easily what is and also what is not accepted on this social network site.
This is also a part of the progress of pushing towards better transparency of Twitter across each of its aspect. Harvey stated that the company is working in order to ensure that each rule had its own relevant resources and more detailed information on the help pages. Besides, she said that Twitter’s update list would also include copyright, hateful conduct, self-harm or suicide, harassment.
Finally, Harvey claimed that the focus of this company is to make sure it keeps users safe and support a better quality of public conversation on this platform.
