Instead Of Removing, Twitter Will Hide Harmful Tweets From Celebrities

Twitter has just announced on tweets created by public figures which allegedly violate the community guidelines of the company. Since now, when celebrities such as the US President Donald Trump post any tweet breaking its rules, Twitter can alert users and limit the accessibility to that tweet. According to its executives, the feature may be soon available to all users.

The notice aims at some certain target users, including verified users, political figures, as well as accounts with over 100,000 followers. When the platform flags a tweet due to the violation of its rules, a Twitter team will determine whether it is a “matter of public interest” or not.

After that, the platform will show a light gray box before users know the tweet’s violation. Besides, it will keep displaying to those who tap on the box. In other words, Twitter just saves the tweet as a public record and doesn’t enable users to show it to other users via its platform.

For any tweet that gets the notice as mentioned above, Twitter will limit its appearance on the platform. As such, followers can’t see it in the timeline of Top Tweets, recommended push notifications, live events pages, Safe search, the Explore page, as well as the notifications tab. In addition, the notice will be only applied to violated tweets since now.
