Twitter as you know will soon be gone. On Monday, the social giant said that it redesigned its platform’s web version to help users navigate more easily.

Twitter already rolled out the new desktop look yesterday. The company conducted tests with different layouts for its platform this year and decided to use this one based on thousands of responses from its users.

On the updated site, there is more white space while the grey space has been reduced. Like the old version, tweets still appear in the middle of the page. The old site’s tabs for Direct Messages, Notifications, Moments, and Home lied at the top of the page. But now, the company puts these shortcuts on the left side, along with tabs for profile, lists, and bookmarks.

In addition, Twitter said that the Explore tab for curated hashtags and tweets will have more personalized local as well as live video content for users.

In the new layout of the site, the company relocates trending hashtags to the right side. Furthermore, as the company has tweaked DM, users can now view other users’ conversation threads and send them messages from the same page, which means they no longer have to switch to another screen.

According to Twitter, there are now options for colors and themes. Also, users can select between two dark mode choices, including “Lights Out” with a black background and “Dim” with a blue-gray background.

Currently, the number of monthly active users of Twitter is 330 million, but it has been struggling to draw new users to its platform. It can be hard to follow conversations on Twitter, especially if a lot of users comment at the same time. And the social giant has been under fire for the lack of effort in combating harassment and bullying on its site; however, it is working to be more proactive about flagging such tweets.

For now, it will need to wait and see the outcome of its redesign.
