Augmented reality (AR) has been more and more popular in our life through its increasing presence in applications and software. As a tech giant, Google is among the companies that push the deployment of this technology to meet with more people.
And now, the company is using AR to help you choose makeup easier. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we can no longer spend hours in the shopping mall or other public places like a cosmetic shop to try on makeup ourselves. Therefore, Google has partnered with Perfect Corp and ModiFace to develop new shopping features so that you can figure out what makeup will likely work best on your face. The tech giant revealed this new partnership in a Thursday blog post, which says:
“Many still crave that in-store experience, whether it's seeing a product up close, trying it on or getting advice from in-store experts.”
As users search for a makeup brand like MAC Cosmetics, L’Oreal, Charlotte Tilbury, or Black Opal, they will see images of their eye shadows and lipsticks on faces with various skin tones.
Besides, Google is offering an AR feature that allows you to sê makeup products on your face through the Google app.
While this feature is similar to what YouTube did last year, Google doesn’t try to beautify your image. Instead, it aims at connecting consumers with brands to assist online sales.
