The audio streaming platform Spotify has reportedly tested Storyline – the latest feature which offers users attractive information behind the scenes concerning the song composition of artists. The information is displayed in the same way as to how Instagram Story works. Users will see a chain of cards including images and text and they can tap through them to their likings.
According to Android Police, only some songs are supporting the new feature of Spotify, including Billie Eilish’s songs and the song Sucker of the Jonas Brothers.
In terms of functionality, Storyline has a lot of similarities with the cards of Behind the Lyrics of Spotify, including how it provides the information directly under these cards according to compatible songs.
Instagram has partnered with Genius to develop its feature Behind the Lyrics but as for Spotify’s new feature, it shows the information directly concerning the artists.
According to a report from TechCrunch, in comparison with Instagram, the Swedish digital music service will provide more exact information. Also, content gathered directly from artists may make the app cheaper than other apps that are paid via third-parties.
Spotify is now testing the feature on both of the most popular operating systems including Android and iOS. There are two countries that support Storyline: the Netherlands and the United States. However, not all of its users can experience this new feature at present, and only a small part of artists contains the behind-the-scenes information. The digital music service provider has been working directly with a series of the artists to create the content for Storyline.
A Spotify spokesperson said, “We are always testing new ways to create better experiences for more users.” However, the company hasn’t revealed the official launch date of this feature.
