WhatsApp must be one of the most important apps in India over that past ten years, it has significantly changed how people communicate. The app has made its way to phones of many people, including the old and the young and has become the most popular messaging platform in the country.
And with that popularity, on New Year’s Eve, there were more than 100 billion messages exchanged on the app, setting a new world record. This number is huge, but it shouldn’t be a surprise considering how many people have become its users over the years.
WhatsApp, which has been acquired by Facebook, has successfully stayed ahead of the curve in a stiff competition among messaging platforms thanks to its reliability, huge userbase, as well as the bunch of features it provides users. At the same time, the app keeps spending efforts to improve user experience on its app.
WhatsApp has recently been reported to be working on a self-destructing feature for messages on its platform, which will work similarly to a feature on Snapchat. Accordingly, a message will disappear some time after the user sends it, without leaving trace or records. But this feature will come to group chats only, not personal conversations.
In addition, WABetaInfo, a well-known WhatsApp leakster, has recently spotted new information linked to the much-anticipated feature on the beta 2.19.348. But the app offers users more control over their messages, in which they can choose a time frame that they want a message to be gone, which can vary between one minute and one year.
