LG Will Reportedly Launch A Triple-Screen Smartphone

Recently LG teased a new device with three screens ahead of a reported launch at 2019 IFA in Berlin. It can be either a full-fledged phone or an accessory

LG may not be everyone’s go-to brand for smartphones, but for years, it shows no sign of giving up on testing for new tech. Recently, it started to marketing for its upcoming flagship, a smartphone that reportedly has three displays. It is believed that the device would be revealed on the 6th of September, at IFA.

The teaser video, named IFA 2019 invitation, shows a device that features two full-size screens along with a smaller one on the cover of the phone. LG chooses a different path to Huawei and Samsung as it manufactures a smartphone with two screens connected by a hinge, rather than one that can be folded up.

There is speculation that this is not actually a separate smartphone, but accessory users can glue to their own phones. LG did it before. In MWC, it revealed such a device called the Dual Screen attachment accessory which goes to the left side of the V50 phone.

While it is possible that this new three-display device will be just another attachment for the V60, but if it is true, it will be odd for the company to announce it with the same effort for a smartphone.

Some users even guess that the reason LG releases its triple-screen device now is to pick up some momenta Huawei, and Samsung left behind when they delay their foldable phones. A triple-display phone may provide similar functionalities and productivity a foldable phone would without the worry of durability.

LG usually teases more and more features of its upcoming devices when the official announcement comes closer. So stay tuned for more information.
