Intel To Introduce Laptops That Knows Where You Are And Extra Screens For PCs

Intel has just introduced a wide range of updates and new designs for laptops that can be aware of its users and PCs with extra screens

Intel has introduced a new design of laptops which can give more screen directed at user’s face, and a new Optane M15 memory module based on the latest released H10 memory module for ultrabooks.

After Asus unveiled Zenbook Duo, which is a double screen laptop, Intel showed its "Honeycomb Glacier." This is a prototype dual display which has been introduced to manufacturers with an aim to generate a new form factor.

The target of this product is those who spend all day sticking to their computers. The company puts another dimension to the design of Asus by adding another set of hinges, which allows the keyboard-level display to be lifted toward the users. And by doing so, the main screen will be titled up too.

Although gamers are the target of Honeycomb Glacier, Intel also focuses on the benefits it can bring to users in photo editing and web browsing by using chat apps.

The company is working with some PC makers to manufacture computers following its design concept. Asus' ZenBook Pro Duo with ScreenPad Plus is the first one of those.

Intel claimed that it also spent time working on the 'ambient PC' prototype with the code-name "Mohawk River." It can show the ability of a laptop to be 'aware' of its users and stay in the always-ready state. 180-degree cameras, external secondary displays, and human presence sensors are some of the viable tools to achieve this.

It also showed off the NUC Compute Element, the device that incorporates an Intel CPU, connectivity, memory, as well as other components with an aim to power devices such as appliances, smart TVs, kiosks, laptops and more.

Besides, Intel has uncovered the new series of Optane M15 NVMe SSD. It will be out in 2019's second quarter with the capacities of 64GB, 32GB, and 16GB.

The units play the role of a cache in hard disk drives. It promises to bring a similar performance with that of more costly SSDs. It will also give users shorter zippy appliances launches times, quicker boot, and access to files.

Intel also announced about the M.2 80mm form factor M15 SSD memory units at Computex in Taiwan. This is the new update to Optane Memory M10.

Intel has increased the PCIe 3.0 times 2 NVMe interface of the M10 to 4 lane setup in the M15, which is said to have doubled performance with write and sequential read speeds reaching 900 MB/s and 2 GB/s. Random read has increased twofold to 450,000 IOPS while write speeds can be 220,000 IOPS. Other specifications are the same.

Lastly, Intel also announced about their 14-inch-display laptop for AI developer, which allow them to try out extensive neural network apps by utilizing Intel GPUs and CPUs together with Movidius vision processing unit. The PC will come with the Intel's version of well-known Python programming language, Windows machine learning as well as Windows 10.
