Instagram Wants You To Spend More Time On Stories With This Update

The race to get more users is pushing Instagram to offer more useful features. This revamped Explore bar is one of them.

As more and more Instagram users are drawn to Stories, the platform wants to make sure that they see more of it whenever they browse this world’s largest photo-sharing network. So in order to realize that target, it has just released an upgraded Explore tab to give you suggestions for Stories based on your personal likings.

With this improvement, you do not have to type in the name of a specific account to see videos anymore. Instagram will automatically do that for you. However, this revamped Explore tab will be rolled out in the near future, so do not be alarmed if you cannot see anything different with yours.

Other features coming along with this update include a new navigation bar for quicker access to popular tasks and functions. The company promises “more immersive” Shopsection and IGTV, so will wait and see if it lives up to what it said.

When the update gets official, users can press the IGTV section to get a list of personalized recommendations. You will get a more focused Shop section with filter ensuring that you get information on home décor or outfit, for example. There will be shortcuts pinned to the front of the section so that users can find what interests them more easily.

This move comes at a no surprise for seasoned users of Instagram. Most of the people on the platform rely on this bar to explore new content to see. So it is just natural for it to combine its two most popular features to complement each other. Whether this update will bring more users to the platform or not is the question only time can answer. But the social media business is getting more crowded so we can expect to see lots of updates from all of the big players.
