Instagram's Co-Watching Feature Lets You Browse Photo With Friends During India Lockdown

Instagram has created a new feature that allows you and your friends to view photos and videos together while social distancing during India lockdown.

On Tuesday, Instagram revealed more information around its actions to help users stay updated and safe during the ongoing pandemic. The company’s attempts include a new feature that allows you to look at photos with your friends while social distancing.

This feature is dubbed Co-Watching, with which users can browse posts with each other through video chat. To use this feature,  you need to start a video call and access Co-Watching. After that, you can view liked, saved, as well as suggested pictures and videos together by simply tapping on the photo icon that’s placed in the bottom left corner of the video chat.

Apart from this feature, Instagram has also added more stickers to help charities as well as encourage users to follow precautions during the pandemic. Users can post the stickers to share information on behaviors like keeping a safe distance from other people and washing hands during the disease outbreak. For instance, you can use the Stay Home sticker to show people one way of social distancing and such posts will appear on Instagram Story. Meanwhile, Donation stickers can be used for directing other users to charities as well as non-profits that are calling for donations.

In another attempt, the photo-sharing app will now direct its users to reliable sources like WHO along with other official health institutes where they will get accurate information about the pandemic. In addition, the company has added some policies to prevent users from spreading misinformation and to prohibit advertisements for coronavirus cures.
