India Gaming Laptop Market May Reach 2.5 Lakh Units This Year

Asus expected that India’s current gaming PC market would expand to 2,5 lakh units by the end of this year since devices belong to this section have become more and more affordable, making consumers across the nation from small towns to big metropolis more willing to adopt these machines.

Asus has been the top performer of the gaming segment, with competitors are the giants like HP and Dell. The company is currently holding over 26 percent share of the gaming PC market in the first quarter of 2019 in India.

Arnold Su, Asus India Head of Consumer Notebooks and ROG Business, further stated that the company had witnessed the strong growth of the gaming category. It is estimated that it sold approximately 40,000 units in 2016. The following years saw a doubling figure of 80,000 units, and in 2018, 150,000 units were sold. He also said that the number would increase to 2-2.5lakh units this year and they would gain a substantial share in this niche.

Asus would go on with its endeavor to extend its engagement with the gaming community as well as its investments to India as the country was their crucial market, Su further added. 

For content creators and gamers, the company extended its series of ROG Zephyrus. And for pro-and competitive players, ROG Hero III and Strix Scar III are introduced. The new gaming units will cost between 60,000-300,000.

Vice President of the Electronics, Private Labels, and Furniture at Flipkart – Adarsh K Menon – stated that buyers from small towns and big metros alike were purchasing laptops from their platform.

Menon stated that many casual gamers would be willing to buy gaming laptops when affordable options were given to them, different methods of payments like EMIs, for examples, would also help people buy these gaming devices. 

On Flipkart, a gaming laptop will range, on average, from 60,000 to 65,000 rupee. 

India has the biggest number of e-sports audience in Asia, according to Prakash Mallya, Vice President, and Managing Director, Sales and Marketing Group at Intel. 

He further added that India’s growing PC gamer community had made gaming the most rapid growing PC niche. Intel would continue to concentrate on supporting this ecosystem, along with promoting the innovation of technology to elevate PC gaming for the whole community. Their new 9th Generation of Intel Core mobile processors would power one of the greatest laptops for content creators and gamers, which will take excellent performance to another level.
