Apple Has Launched The iCloud For Windows App, Bringing Users Better Experience

Apple has launched a new app - iCloud for Windows, which makes both Apple and Microsoft users' life easier.

It is good news for technology fans as Apple has released a new iCloud app for Windows which can be found in the Microsoft Store.

In the new iCloud app, there is a new iCloud Drive feature which will help users share files from iOS devices to Windows 10 PCs more easily.

Apple and Microsoft, former smartphone and desktop competitors, are now collaborating in order to increase the products’ quality and bring users the best experience.

According to Microsoft, the amount of active Windows 10 devices is nowadays 825 million, in which there are iPad and Apple iPhone users.

Although Apple and Microsoft compete on several technologies such as Cortana versus Siri, Google, the cloud, and mobile have put that rivalry aside and helped create a lot of collaborative efforts.

With this time’s new iCloud app, Apple has not announced it, making Microsoft take responsible for heralding the new feature iCloud Drive.

Microsoft 365 developer ecosystem’s engineering general manager Giorgio Sardo announced that global users could access to Microsoft Store to download iCloud for Windows app.

According to the company, Apple's software makes use of the same tech Microsoft uses for its OneDrive Files On-Demand, which allows users to open files in the cloud even if they are offline.

With iCloud Drive and the iCloud app for Windows, users can get into files in iCloud Drive from Windows 10 File Explorer without using up the PC’s storage.

Moreover, it is possible to choose folders and files users would like to save on the PC and store them in iCloud Drive, then they can have access to them from the Mac, iCloud website, and iOS device.

In order to help users be familiar with the new feature, Apple launched a support page to explain the new app and showed the interaction between the Windows PC and the iPad, iPhone with the new iCloud app and File Explorer.
