The tool was built with a huge collection of famous poets’ work. Google engineers then use individual poet’s poems to fine-tune them, in the hope to imitate their style.

According to Dave Uthus, one of the project’s engineers, the AI is trained to decide which verse is best after a particular verse, so even when users write about uncommon topics, it will try its best to provide relevant suggestions.

Verse by Verse does a decent job helping users following famous poets’ styles. However, you will sometimes see unhelpful suggestions.
