The gaming industry has recently suffered nearly 12 billion attacks within just 17 months.

According to the "2019 State of the Internet/Security Web Attacks and Gaming Abuse" report from Akamai Technology – a famous Cloud service provider – on June 13, the gaming industry is the top target of high-tech cybercriminals, who always aim to increase profits quickly.

From November 2017 to March 2019, all industries in the world have suffered from 55 billion attacks concerning credentials.

Among them, the gaming industry was attacked the most. The main reason for this is due to the deficiencies in data protection and information of game makers. People can easily exchange and trade in-game products. Besides, gamers are willing to invest a lot of money for their games. Therefore, this is the ideal goal of high-tech criminals.

As shown in the Akamai report, attacks of SQL Injection (or SQLi) indicate about 65.1% of all attacks concerning web applications. The second position belongs to the LFI (Local File Inclusion) attacks with 24.7%. In terms of many aspects, the credential stuffing attacks and the SQLi have a direct connection with each other.

The large part of the lists stuffing credentials is related to the darknet, as well as many kinds of forums that make use of data coming from some biggest data breaches. Many of these forums are considering SQLi as a root cause.
