Facebook Is Testing Dark Mode On Messenger

Facebook Messenger is testing its Dark Mode on mobile apps to use in low light conditions. The test is for only certain countries and selected users.

For many of us, Facebook Messenger is not only the first app we check after waking up but also the one we stick with throughout the day. However, the standard colors – white, gray, and blue – can be quite annoying to our eyes on dark days.

No worries because Facebook has got a solution for us. According to a report from Android Police, the social network is doing tests on an incomplete version of Messenger’s dark mode in selected countries.

Android Police’s report was confirmed on Wednesday when Facebook announced its tests on this feature. Yet, the company did not reveal details.

In an email, the spokesperson of Facebook Messenger said that the tech giant is testing dark mode for Messenger app in a lot of markets. He added that there’s no further information to be shared for now.

Back in October 2018, on the occasion of revealing a simplified version for Messenger’s app, Facebook also teased the dark mode.

On Monday, Jane Manchun Wong – a tipster – posted on Twitter that this feature has been made available for Android phones in a few regions, but only a limited group of users have the chance to experience this. Also, the company does not one hundred percent convert the app, so when using the app you may see it suddenly switch back to its standard colors.

Wong wrote that it’s probably because of the prolonged external complaints that Facebook began testing its Dark Mode on Messenger mobile app in selected countries.

Wong was unable to tell where the feature was being tested, but she said you can launch the dark mode by going to the section “Me” and then to Settings.
