Apple's Upcoming Updates Will Make Its Apps More Useful

The updates Apple is about to introduce will enhance the overall user experience as well as the performance of some individual apps.

Apple’s yearly developer conference will take place next month, and it is reportedly scheduled for the introduction of a wide range of new features for its iPhones that may make the devices more user-friendly.

The software is believed to be named iOS 13, and it will come with updates for apps including iMessage, Health, Apple Maps, and Reminders. Apple hopes that this improvement will make these apps more useful for users than any other provided by third-party developers.

The conference is usually held in June and in this kind of event, the company often announces changes and updates with its devices like Apple Watch, iPad, Mac, and iPhones. There have been several earlier reports saying that this year, Apple would focus more on its iPads but according to Bloomberg, iPhones would also have their fair share of the company’s attention.

The Health app may have another function named “hearing health,” which will keep track of the level of sounds and noise users are exposed to. Its interface will also be clearer as it gives you information on your activity during the day. The Sleep Mode will lower the light the phone emits, mute the notifications, and activate the Do Not Disturb.

For parents who concern about the amount of time their children spend on the phones, Apple will enhance the Screen Time so that adults can set limitations on the people their kids can interact at a certain time of a day. In a separate event, The New York Times found out that Apple had erased a large number of apps for parental control on its App Store right after its own app was introduced along with the iOS 12 last year.

After this year’s update, the iMessage will somewhat resemble WhatsApp as it will let users choose the display photo and name. The Apple Maps will also be more useful as it would remember places you visit frequently. According to 9to5Mac, the company will combine the Find My iPhone and Find My Friends into one single app only. Changes on the Reminders app will result in an interface being divided into four sections, including all tasks, scheduled tasks, flagged tasks, and tasks for today, as suggested by Bloomberg. Apart from these above updates, Safari and Mail will also get improvements.

However, iOS 13 will not only bring new features to individual apps, but the general performance of the whole system will also be enhanced too.

About the iPads, the most noticeable update is arguably the ability to turn the device into the second display for Mac as well as a better multitasking ability for users. Another change is a function that lets users use many different versions of one single app on their iPad.

Apple has long been under fire for the performance of its own apps, and if Bloomberg’s articles are to be believed, the company has determined to change that. However, for now, users can find apps providing more features and freedom to customization than those from Apple’s first-party choices.

The updates iOS 13 brings along will also double as a means to rekindle the company’s relationship with developers as there are accusations of its tight control on the App Store, giving Apple’s apps a more favorable standing than what other developers make. This belief has led to some troubles for the company, as in March, Spotify has filed an antitrust complaint to the European Union about the amount of tax the iPhone maker charges for any payment made on its system.

As Apple usually does, it will introduce the updates in fall to sync with the launching schedule of the new iPhones. The company’s Worldwide Developers Conference will take place on the 3rd of June in California.
