iPhone 5G May Not Make A Debut Until 2025

Apple is also having to face another bad luck besides the effect of trade tensions between the US and China.

5G chipset is nothing but the heart of a smartphone in the future. When 5G communication becomes widespread, smartphones will be the first pioneering devices to break the scope of 5G across the world. At the moment, Apple is the only prominent player that seems not to be able to keep up with other highly-competitive rivals like Samsung and Huawei in making 5G chipset.

The Information posted a report unveiling about Apple’s process on the 5G iPhone. As per the report, the company has been building an in-house team for the notable project. However, it’s unlikely that Apple to have an exclusive 5G modem ready for the flagship-line iPhones until 2025. The company’s effort is expected to help itself reduce the massive reliance on global vendors and suppliers.

The move is reasonable while the supply agreement between it and Qualcomm will allow Apple to release a 5G iPhone, but not before 2020. Date back to April, Intel did confirm it find struggled in building 5G modem chips for smartphones but finally quitted the research after Apple and Qualcomm reached a settlement last month. Before the settlement was done, two companies were going to fight on a lawsuit over licensing fees dispute. However, Qualcomm is the only supplier whose technology is up to par with 5G modem requirements, so Apple was forced to reserve a path for its bleak future at that time.

Keep in mind that Apple is having to face another bad luck. Although it still needs a lot of rooms for improvement, the integration of superfast 5G connectivity into phones is finally on-air with Samsung and Huawei upcoming gadgets. Those latest tech pieces are planned to launch within this year.
