2020 iPad Pro And MacBook Pro Might Have Mini-LED Screens

Mini-LED screen is a better choice for screens that have to display content with a high accuracy rate but the images may have to stay static for a long time

It is widely known that Apple is expanding its use of OLED screens for its devices. Still, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst who has an extended portfolio of accurate predictions about Apple’s future plan, the iPhone maker will give its 2020’s devices’ mini-LED display. The first device to have this change is the 16-inch MacBook Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. The mini-LED display would make its way to around six or eight devices of Apple. However, the company will not make any sudden transition.

On paper, the mini-LED screen has several advantages of the OLED’s without its disadvantages. The power-efficiency feature of the former can lessen the risk of burning while the density of LEDs means that users will have a wider range of colors and higher contrast ratios. The mini-LED screen is a better choice for screens that have to display content with a high accuracy rate, but the images may have to stay static for a long time. This is where OLED is not suitable to be used.

Mini-LED application is limited due to the issue with its cost. And before this leak, this kind of screen is used in some niche markets only. However, as Apple plans to use the screen for its upmarket devices, the cost is not a problem anymore.

Kuo has credit for being correct about many of Apple’s decisions before; however, you should still take this piece of news with a pinch of salt. Some other reports have suggested that a new iPad Pro could be released in the first few months of 2020. While Apple has given updates for the iPad twice a year before, it is still weird for the iPhone maker to announce two small changes instead of saving both of them for one big announcement.
