August 2018 marks the sudden shut down of Musical.ly. All of its users were transferred to a new social network called TikTok. The app, at first glance, might remind users of Dubsmash. However, it can do more than that.

Besides lip sync videos, users can freely create dancing, musical, acting as well as other types of short clips. For creators and viewers who want some entertainment, this is truly an addictive app with some really cool features.

5. Turn your account into a private one

In the app’s earlier versions, you could set the privacy option for each video. But you want only those who follow you could view your videos, you have to change your account into a private one.

If you want to keep your videos private for a while, you can save them to Drafts where no one except you can see them.

To switch your account to Private, open your profile page and tap on the three-dot icon which is at the top-right corner. Under Privacy and Safety, you set your account to private.

6. Delete you video

If you don’t like a video that you have already published, it is always possible to delete it to upload a new one. Follow these steps if you want to do so.

Step 1: Open the video, click on the three-dot icon which is on the right side.

7. Create perfect lip sync videos

One of TikTok’s main features is creating lip-sync videos. To accurately sync a song with your video is not easy. However, there are still many ways with which you can correctly edit videos.

Once you select a song, you can tap the scissor icon and select which part of the song you want to sync to your video.

For video, if you have already recorded one, you can tap the Scissor to choose when the song should start.

8. Use a song from a lip sync video of someone else

If you like a song from a lip sync video of someone else and want to use it in your own video, you can start recording right away instead of having to search for the song.

At the bottom-right corner, there is a circle with the album art. Tap on that. Then select the record option. And you’re all set.

9. Star in a duet video

If you and your friend are residing in different countries and the two of you want to shoot a duet video. There is no need to record videos individually and spend hours on syncing both as the app has a Duet feature just for that.

Open the video which you want to use for the duet video. Then you can tap on the Share icon. Select Duet. From there, you can make a video like you normally do.

10. Record without holding the button

To avoid having to holding the record button, there is a timer feature for you to use. Once the feature is enabled, the app will start automatically record a video after just a few seconds.

On the video-capture screen, you can tap the timer icon, then tap the Start Countdown button.
