You cannot directly save the status in the phone memory because WhatsApp does not offer any official feature for this. People try different ways to copy the statuses of others, like taking a screenshot of the status, but what about GIFs and videos? You can't always use a screen recorder for videos. And if you take a screenshot, the quality of the pic will be decreased. Instead of any official feature, there is a hidden technique that will help you save all kind of WhatsApp statuses on the phone.

How to save WhatsApp “Status” (Photos and Videos) on the phone?

The way stated below is very easy to follow. In this method, you don't need to rely on any third-party app for saving the status of other contacts.

Manually saves statuses (using File Manager)

When you view any status (Videos, photos, and GIFs) of your contacts, it automatically saves in your phone storage, but it keeps the status in the temporary location. After 24 hrs, the phone will delete them automatically. So to save videos and photos permanently requires copying that them from a temporary location and paste in a safe folder.

Remember that users will need the 'File Manager' app by which they can perform this task smoothly. Most firms, such as Xiaomi, LG, OnePlus and Samsung, offer their own 'file explorer' app in their devices, but Nokia and some other makers do not. In that case, you need to download the "ES File Explorer," or you can use "Solid Explorers" app to perform this task.

  1. Firstly, you need to open WhatsApp and tap on the status which you want to save on your phone.
  2. Open 'File Manager' or 'File Explorer' app.
  3. Go into the file manager settings and set it to "show hidden files."
  4. Open internal storage, scroll the page, and you will find the folder "WhatsApp" in it.
  5. Tap on "Whatsapp" folder > Media > Statuses (hidden file).
  6. Simply copy any status and paste it anywhere you want.

The pasted videos and photos are saved on your phone for good; they will not disappear after 24 hours. Now you can easily access the media whenever you want.
