It’s likely that Apple is making changes to the watchOS so that users won’t have to rely on their iPhones as much when using the smartwatch.

According to Bloomberg’s recently published documents, there are a lot of software tweaks that the tech giant is making to the watchOS, iOS, and macOS, revealed by sources. One of the most notable changes is that Apple may be removing one of the final dependencies of the Watch on the iPhone and also boosting some stock apps for the Apple Watch.

In addition, it’s possible that there will be an AppStore version for the watchOS which means users can install third-party apps to their wrist computers without using their iPhones.

Furthermore, as stated by Bloomberg, several iOS stock apps will come with a watchOS version to use on the Watch Series, including Apple Books, Voice Memos, Calculator app, as well as the capability of sending Animoji/Memoji. Plus, the tech giant is reported to be adding another two health apps, namely Dose and Cycles. While Cycles tracks users’ menstrual cycles, Dose can help them keep track of pill taking.

On June 3, the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2019 will kick off. At this event, we expect the company to unveil more updates on its software ecosystem.

In separate news, Apple is expected to release the Watch Series 5 this year, along with its 2019 iPhones. The watch may host all the features and specifications of the previous models including the GPS, cellular connection, and ECG. In the next model of the Watch Series, Apple may add an AI engine configured to improve smell recognition capabilities as well as a few gesture-control features.
