New iPad Pro is freaking expensive

The device pricing starts at Rs 59,000 for the basic configuration. In case you prefer using the Pro like a traditional laptop, it takes another Rs 15,000 for the new Smart Keyboard Folio, Rs 13,100 for a smaller version of the keyboard. Additionally, if you want, you can pay to get more storage.

So in total, when you max out all the specifications, a new iPad Pro can cost up to Rs 139,000. At such that price, you can get a MacBook Pro or a MacBook Air instead.

The accessories divide

You cannot use the old Smart Connector for your new iPad Pro as Apple has changed the Smart Connector placement. So, if you are to own a new iPad Pro, you’ll need to get the new Smart Connector customized for your new iPad.

The same thing happens for the Pencil. Apple declared that the old one only works with the older models, and the new Pencil can only operate with the redesigned models of iPad Pro.

Photoshop not available till 2019

At Apple’s launching event, Adobe got on the stage and announced the new Photoshop software on the latest iPad Pro, which it already introduced at its own event earlier this month. Photoshop on the new iPad Pro offers a lot of layers, control as well as a wide range of tools from Adobe.

However, buying the new iPad Pro right now doesn’t mean you get to enjoy the cool new Photoshop immediately. In fact, you’ll have to wait till 2019 for the real fun, and the exact time is still a question.

Why is the USB-C even there?

USB-C is a replacement that Apple made on the new Pro, you may think this port works just like the one on Android devices. I’m telling you’re wrong, sorry.

Though Apple said the port can be used for charging other devices and connected to a camera, it’s not equally easy to add external storage. Instead, a developer would choose to create an app which allows accessing external storage, like what SanDisk did for iXpand drives. iOS on the newly released iPad Pro cannot access external storage directly through the USB-C port like a normal computer.

No OIS, no lightning port nor headphone jack

The lightning port has been ditched from the new iPad Pro, which was previously for charging the device. Apple is now so enthusiastic about the USB-C port that in the future it will be all that’s left. But this is the present guys.

The headphone jack is gone, too. Now if you want to be quiet while using your iPad Pro, get a USB-C to 3.5mm dongle or the wireless Bluetooth headphones at Rs 8,800.

Optical image stabilization (OIS) is also not available on the rear camera of the new iPad Pro. According to Apple’s page, the 10.5-inch model will not feature OIS. Though the feature may not be used regularly, there’s no harm keeping the feature either.
