New USB-Like Canon Camera Can Be Good Alternative For Smartphone Lens

Canon is showing their moves to embrace the casual photography market by their recently strategized product, the pin-like camera.

Since images captured by smartphones have been comparable to artworks from the affordable shoot and point camera, one of the largest technology companies, Canon has made a decision to create a small barebones shooter with the same size of a USB. If crowdfunding attempt was successful, it could have the chance to make a debut.

This new product can be reportedly waterproof and shockproof.

People tend to be protective of their phones because their prices are not small – about $1000. It may take the owners a while before lending their phones to friends to take photos. The ultimate camera is said to be the actual camera, but an expensive complicated piece of equipment being damaged from falling, humid or even scratches can make a moment slip uncaptured. That explains the plan on another invention, the Canon IVY REC.

Imagine the IVY REC as an identical twin brother of a carabiner assembled with a flash drive. It is made of plastic, designed with flashy bright colors and a shutter button. It is reportedly waterproof and shockproof, to an expected height of just a few feet. However, it's not a good option for divers. Moreover, its 13 megapixels 1/3 inch CMOS sensor allows owners to record high-quality video at a frequency of 60 shots per second.

This brand new camera is mounted on an available tripod that is perfectly attached underneath the frame, and at the back, there is a dial used for swapping between its limited function. Users, however, might wonder where the LCD screen is to display those modes. There are two options when taking framed photos: the square hole on one end as the crude viewfinder and a sensor viewfinder from the sensor of the smartphone’s camera. During this, the phone needs to be wirelessly connected so that its Canon app can provide a vibrant view. It’s still unclear if photos can be saved and shared via the USB port, or via a wireless connection, it’s totally practical.

So far, the company hasn't yet announced further details. The unawareness remains when it comes to the proposal price, the battery life, and the storage, either memory cards or internally-installed storage. Seeing how consumers find it unnecessary to invest a lot of money on a professional but bulky digital camera when they can rather take equivalently good photos with their smartphones, Canon may have to slow down their desire to grasp the whole photography market. They are going to use an Indiegogo fundraising campaign to run a test on public response. It is still planning on paper right now though.

However, Canon will welcome their very first supporters with a deal of up to 30% off the official price, regardless of how much it will be. This will possibly draw enough attention to the goals to be achieved.
