Apple Watch Clones May Look Like The Real One But They Cannot Offer The Same Experience

You might have heard of the new smartwatch from Xiaomi, a clone of the Apple Watch. This will be the Chinese company’s first smartwatch sold under its brand.

Xiaomi’s Mi watch is a nice reminder that even though many companies will try to copy the design of Apple, they have not got close to offering the real experience. And when it comes to Apple Watch, we are talking about life-saving features like auto emergency calls and fall detection.

The Mi Watch can only offer very basic features and with its price, interested buyers cannot expect to have something like ECGs or fall detection. Xiaomi said that the watch can monitor your heart rate and the level of oxygen in your blood but we have to wait and see how well the watch can perform these functions. Even if the Mi Watch can deliver what the Apple Watch does, how many users can put their trust on a health-monitoring watch that is priced at $185?

Under the hood, the Mi Watch’s operating system is a skinned version of WearOS, which has been criticized a lot by users lately, with the home screen is blocked with apps. And as it has photocopied the appearance of Apple Watch, Xiaomi also takes some of the watch faces as well.

For the foreseeable future, the Mi Watch will be sold in China only. The reason is that Google forbids OEMs to use Wear OS outside of the Chinese territory, so the smartwatch will not be exported to any other country.

For now, Xiaomi’s Mi Watch has done one thing right, reminding users of Apple Watch what they have paid for to get.
