UK’s lockdown to fight COVID-19 might be extended to September in some ways, with a handful of measures last even longer than that

UK’s lockdown to fight COVID-19 might be extended to September in some ways, with a handful of measures last even longer than that, according to one of the medical advisers for the country’s government.

On Sunday, UK's deputy chief medical officer, Dr. Jenny Harries said that if the rules succeeded in flattening the curve, that would be great, but they would not suddenly switch back to the lives before the pandemic as it might cause another peak and rendered all of the previous effort wasted.

She also shared that over the next six months, there would be a three-week review. Gradually, the U.K might hope to have their normal life back.

She also added that this did not mean they would definitely in lockdown in the next six months.

In India, Rajiv Gauba, Cabinet Secretary said reports suggesting that the current 21-day lockdown would be extended further were incorrect as they based on no concrete proof.

On the enforcement of the lockdown, a review found out that the measures have been strictly done. According to the railways, 71,261 wagons of sugar, edible oil, salt, grain, petroleum products, and coal have been ferries in the last two days.

On Sunday, Punya Salila Srivastava, the joint secretary said that the home secretary had requested the superintendents of police, district magistrates, and Union Territories to make sure that stranded workers have food and shelter, as well as full wages from employers. They were also asked to direct landlords not to collect rents from laborers.
