A group of friends from California decided to recreate all the California-based macOS wallpapers of Apple. And they almost nailed it with the exception of the Mojave desert dunes and Mavericks waves.
The group’s members included Andrew Levitt-a YouTuber, Taylor Gray-a landscape photographer, Jacob Phillips-a videographer. The interesting journey took them to all the locations that are familiar with macOS users, from Mojave desert, Yosemite, to El Capitan and Sierra.
The experience was documented in a YouTube video. All the photos are available for download, which you can access here.
This is the official default wallpaper that Apple created for macOS Yosemite.
And here’s the Yosemite shot by Levitt and his friends. These two photos look almost identical, except for the cloud and some other small details which Apple has made with Photoshop.
This is the default wallpaper of macOS El Capitan.
Again, Levitt’s team succeeded in finding the exact location. The only difference here is the weather.
This is the default wallpaper of the macOS Sierra.
And this is the version shot by Levitt and his team. It seems like the original picture of Apple was taken in different weather as there is snow on the top of the mountain.
This is the default wallpaper of the macOS High Sierra.
And this is what the group got. The scene is the same, except for the taken time.
This is the default wallpaper of the macOS Mojave.
This photo is a little bit tricky to recreate as the dunes move and change their shapes all the time.
And for the one of OS X Mavericks, it did not quite go as planned.
