As a quality assurance manager, her task is to make sure that the vaccine meets all the standards before it could move to the trial stage.

Datta studied at Gokhale Memorials Girls School. After that, she went to the Heritage Institute of Technology where she earned her B.Tech in engineering. She then came to the UK and studied at Leeds University for an MSc-Bioscience degree.

Datta explained that normally, it takes from three to four years to manufacture a vaccine. But the Oxford team has managed to cut down the time to only a few months. She added that around 600 vaccine doses had been made and they would mass-produce 1,000 more.

The team is now looking for manufacturing facilities based in the UK. Datta said that they had never witnessed a pandemic as scary as the COVID-19 one, especially in the 21st century.

The main goal now is to save lives and allow people to have their normal lives back.

Datta’s parents were extremely worried about her going to work during a time like this. But Datta said that she needed to help and support her team to get through this period.
