San Luis Potosi in Mexico is having plans on reshaping its lineup of police vehicles with a quite substantial order of 15 Tesla Cybertrucks. With this move, the city in central Mexico wants to express its wish to enlist for its police force zero-emissions vehicles. For the Tesla Cybertrucks, preorders are available with an at-any-time canceling policy at $1,500 in total. As stated earlier, buyers only need to pay $100 for the reservation of one electric pickup.
The news about the acquisition of these pickup trucks was reported by El Imparcial news outlet after the mayor of the city Adrian Esper Cardenas announced the order. He said that with this acquisition, the city expects that the maintenance costs would be lowered than when using gasoline-fed vehicles. Notoriously, the maintenance of electric vehicles is simpler. Besides serving the community, the electric trucks will be used for different tasks around the city like transporting garbage containers and moving water pipes.
The electric lineup will consist of five tri-motor pickups and 10 dual-motor ones. Which model will be for city maintenance and which is for the police force remain unclear.
The news of the order made by San Luis Potosi city comes after the confirmation that the Tesla Cybertruck will also join the Dubai police force. The Dubai force is known for its use of high-end sports cars and supercars.
Soon enough, the US police force will be the next one to make an acquisition for the Tesla Cybertruck. The Tesla Model S has already been used by some departments.
