Man Arrested For Trying To Teach His Dog How To Drive

On Sunday, a man was taken into custody after being chased down by troopers. After the police stopped the car, they found out that a dog was sitting at the driver seat.

The man is from Lakewood, Washington, the U.S, and his car hit two others on the way. He failed to stop at both occasions. Fortunately, no one got major injuries in these accidents.

Heather Axtman, a trooper, said that the man drove so erratically that several people had called the police.

She said that the man was driving recklessly and his speed reached 175 km per hour. Once a trooper cornered the vehicle, he realized that a pit bull was at the driver seat with the man steering the wheel.

As the man tried to escape troopers, he drove to a pedestrian and bicyclist trail which is always busy. Like a miracle, there was no one on the trail when the incident took place.

The pursuit ended when the police deployed spike strips. Axtman said the man explained when he was arrested that he was trying to teach his dog how to drive.

Axtman expressed her surprise, saying that she had been in the force for 12 years and had stopped lots of cars and participated in several high-speed chases, but this was the first time someone told her that they were teaching their dogs to drive.

The man was charged with several felonies including driving under the influence, hit and run, felony eluding, and reckless endangerment. His case will be in court on March 30.

The pit bull was taken to an animal shelter after her owner was arrested.
