Mahindra Group Opens 10 Kitchens To Cook Meals For The Poor

Amid the India lockdown, the Mahindra group has opened 10 kitchens in several different locations to prepare meals for the poor.

The India lockdown amid the COVID-19 outbreak has surely affected the poor and underprivileged population of the country. Because of the unavailability of resources, it is a struggle for migrant workers to get home and find food.

The kitchens can prepare up to 10,000 meals per day.

 

Several NGOs, as well as kind people, are trying to help those in need and provide meals for as many people as they can. Now, the Mahindra group has opened 10 kitchens in several different locations to prepare meals for the poor.

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited’s Managing Director, Pawan K Goenka, announced the good news through his Twitter account. He said that the campaign had provided 10,000 rations and 50,000 meals to the needy. Goenka also offered ways to contact the kitchens so that those who need help can contact them. The kitchens can prepare up to 10,000 meals per day.

Back in March, Anand Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra Group, had announced that he would like to make ventilators and offered his resort to become temporary medical facilities for COVID-19 patients. He also mentioned that 100% of his salary would be contributed to those who needed help.

Mukesh Ambani, the richest man in India and the second richest man in Asia, donated Rs 500 crore or $67 million to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's fund for COVID-19, Rs 5 crore or $660,000 the Maharashtra Chief Minister's relief fund. Maharashtra is Ambani's home state. Another Rs 5 crore is for Gujarat Chief Minister. The biggest refinery complex of Reliance is located in Gujarat.

The campaign had provided 10,000 rations and 50,000 meals to the needy.

Ratan Tata, through Tata Trusts, donated Rs 500 crore or $67 million to cover the costs to purchase protective gear, testing kits, ventilators, provide training for healthcare workers and set up modular treatment centers.

N. Chandrasekaran, Tata Group's chairman, donated Rs 1,000 crore (or $134 million). Also according to Chandrasekaran, the company is preparing to manufacture ventilators.
