A YouTuber and diver recently found an iPhone inside a waterproof case in lost in a river for 15 months. The guy who discovered the phone was Michael Bennet whose YouTube channel is called Nugget Noggin.
A report suggests that the location where the phone was found was the Edisto River in North America. What comes as a surprise is that, the phone was still working after being in the water for 15 months and the old text messages were still there.
Michael Bennet said he found something that looked oddly similar to a rope attached to car keys. When he pulled the thing up, it turned out to be a water proof case with an iPhone inside.
The next challenge for Bennet was to look for the iPhone’s owner. Since the phone was locked with a password, he had no way to unlock it. However, he came up with the idea of taking the SIM card out and inserting it into another phone. By doing this, he could get the contact information of the owner.
And Bennet did succeed in tracking down the owner of the phone, Erica Bennett. Erica said she lost the phone when her family went on a vacation in June 2018. The phone contained some text messages between her and her late father. She said,
Once receiving the phone from Bennet, Erica could recover and transfer most of the important files from her old Apple device to her new one. Miraculously, even the rechargeable case of the old iPhone still worked after being submerged in the river for such a long time.
